98 civic ex crank but no start
I had a problem with the car not starting yesterday. Basically me and a friend fixed it by restricting how much air the car gets and it seemed to fix the problem. I thought this was kind of odd but I let it go because the car was running just fine. The next day I drove around for a little bit then when I tried turning it back on it wouldn't start again. At that point I decided to check my oil level just for ***** and giggles and it turns out I was running it almost dry... I then walked to the nearest gas station and bought some cheap oil so I can limp back home. When I was filling the cheap oil I overfilled it by about 1" on the dipstick. The car still cranked but wouldn't start. Did I do any major damage to my engine?? What would be my next step to diagnosing and fixing it?

if you're concerned about engine damage, start with a compression test. are you sure that sitting and cooling down wasnt what got the car running? i have never ever seen a no start solved by adjusting an idle screw. check for spark, fuel.
