Buzzing Noise behind the seats, Del Sol far from home.

Buzzing Noise behind the seats, Del Sol far from home.
I'm on a road trip 500 miles from my tools and home and my Del Sol has started making a buzzing noise from about where the fuel tank sits. So far its running good and only has the sound when it's running.
Bad fuel pump?
If so, easy enough for a roadside replacement?
Anyone else have this problem?
I'm hoping to drive home in a couple days and fix it there. Just hate to have it die in the middle of Texas.

Well if it's coming from the area of the gas tank (underneath the passenger bin) then yeah it probably is the fuel pump. Definitely not a roadside repair as you need to rip the bins out to get to it.
Is the car stumbling at all or otherwise having power issues?

my del sol does the same thing and i looked it up on alldata and there is a TSB about the catalytic converter humming after the car has stopped.

No noise today and I had drove about 8 hours straight yesterday when it started. Probably hot and tired at 19 years old.
Just traveling local for a couple days.
Maybe get a pump before I leave San Antonio. Can't hurt to have it if I plan to replace it at home anyway.

it would be a pain but if you HAD to change it road side besides having to take out the storage bins its a pretty easy fix to do.
but hopefully you make it home before then.

If I do have to do it, I'm guessing tools will be Phillips, 10mm, 12mm. Except maybe the fuel fitting. Can anyone verify what size I need to get that off?

you can replace the fuel pump using only a philips head screw driver, pliers, 10mm and 17mm sockets. 17mm is for the fuel line
