Is my clutch slipping?
I have a 93 eg8... I have a y7/y8 mini me with the LX transmission from the stock motor that came in the car(d15b7) I have been having an issue with what im pretty sure is my clutch slipping.. When i coast in gear(engine braking), sometimes, my car starts to "jump" (dont know how else to explain it) it seems like it picks and chooses when it wants to do it, but mostly when the car warms up.. and it only happens when my foot is off the gas.. most of the research ive done about slipping clutches is when you are giving gas, and your rpms go up, but the cars speed doesnt increase, so im not exactly sure if this is my clutch slipping... Car runs great, no CEL, and clutch was changed when the motor was swapped about 5000mi ago..
anyone have any insight?

Re: Is my clutch slipping?
I used to wonder what a slipping clutch felt like until I actually got to experience it. There is no mistaking it. It feels, to me, like the road is slipping right beneath your feet while your foot is on the gas. It always happens when you're accelerating.
What you're describging sounds different.

Re: Is my clutch slipping?
this might be a really dumb answer, but does this only happen at low rpm's when slowing down in gear? because the car will start rocking back and forth at low rpm in gear until the motor stalls out or when you decide to accelerate again. I only suggest this might be your "problem" because a. you may have just started driving the car or b. because I don't think a clutch would slip without acceleration

When TB is shut and your transmission is rotating the motor while decelerating, the fuel is cut..
Maybe the engine is getting fuel when its not supposed too...
Causing the surge...
Just an idea..

it seems like he isn't familiar with how a manual transmission works. here's your solution (if I described what's wrong) downshift to a lower gear if you like engine braking to avoid the bucking. when your rpms dip below like ~1600 then downshift again or just go into neutral and brake

Re: Is my clutch slipping?
lol! I have been driving stick for like 10 years, so that is not the problem... Like I had said earlier, it doesnt happen all the time...when it does, it will do it in 4, 3, 2, and 1st, usually in the 1500-2500ish range... could possibly be my throttle body, but not completely sure... its really hard to tell if its an idle issue or my clutch
