Default Timing belt symptoms?

Does anyone knows what are the symptoms of the timing belt failure? Got an 89 Accord LXi. Engine stopped suddenly on the highway and never start up again. Dealer said it may be the timing belt. Want to get a second opinion. Thanks

That's a pretty good symptom. If you don't beleive the dealer, ask to see it before you authorize any work.

There is a good possiabilty that some valve damage occured, depending on what rpm you were at. Sooo, that way you won't be too surprized, about the bill you get for replacing the bent ones.....

ok girls.. heres a tip...

remove the oil filler cap on the valve cover.. shine a flashlight in the hole and visually see if the valvetrain is moving while cranking the motor..

no movement = broken T-Belt..
