Default Could a bad PCV valve cause you to fail an emissions test?

My car failed the emissions test and I noticed my PCV valve wasn't working so I replaced it and now it works. Would this have any effect on passing the test?

my pcv was bad and i didn't notice any bogging issues, seemed to run the same with and without it, i guess for $3 and 30 seconds you can't go wrong replacing it

Yes, it can. If your running your car cap the vacum pull the valve and put a breather in. It will remove all those less explosive oil fumes from your intake. Every little bit helps when your trying squish your friends WRX.
