What are signs of misfiring? My car seems sluggish sometimes. I'll just try to pull the codes tomorrow but i just wanted to ask first.
also...How can you tell if your valves come in contact with your pistons? Would you feel it through the pedal or would you hear it?

Depends on the misfire. Its either a lean, rich, or desity misfire.
You might be having lean misfire's or even worse detination. The only way I can think to see it would be hook up a five gas anilizer. You would have to go to a shop to get someone with one, so your codes will be read anyway(im guessing your OBDII and not lazy).
If your valves came into contact with your pistons you wouldnt be able to have compression and you car most likely wouldnt even start. This you would hear then the car would just shut off.
