Default H4 to H7 Conversion

Ok, I have a 1993 del Sol and i bought the jdm 1pc headlights for it. Now, the usdm del Sol uses a h4(hi/lo) headlight bulb, which is 3 prong and bigger. Now the JDM del Sol uses a h7 headlight bulb, which is 2 prong and pretty small. Does anyone know how to convert the h4 into a h7?

Thanks,
Lambert

the simple solution:

1.) find out which other cars have an H7 bulb.
2.) Find that car at a junkyard
3.) clip the headlight harness from the junkyard car
4.) solder it onto your car
5.) install
6.) enjoy

what i'm affraid of is that the high and low beams will both stay on the entire time. Will a h4 HID kit fit??

iduno. but with an H4 HID kit, you'll have no brights. Unless you get the dual beam ones....in which case...i dont know how well they work out. The prius has a really nice dual beam H4 (i think they're H4s). There's a cool little shutter. But at an estimated cost of $$youcantaffordit, it's out of the question.

Well if you do find an h7 car at the junkyard, and your headlights dont end up working out, you just wasted $2?? Give it a shot.

Are you certain the JDM Del Sol uses an H7 low beam? What high beam does it use? Do you have any photos of the lights?

If your information is correct, it's really just a simple matter of splicing in new connectors for the low and high beams. You can pick up new H7 connectors at your local auto parts store, and then you just need to solder them to the low-beam positive lead and a ground. The same holds true for the high-beam (only you're obviously splicing into the high-beam positive wire instead).

well the problem is that i can't get the h4 bulbs to fit inside the headlight, they are too big, and h7's fit perfect. but i don't know about the high and low beams, it only has the slot for one bulb, plus a little one which is for JDM parking lights.

It sounds as if you need H4H bulbs.

i got it, i just saw the bulb stuff on the headlights. It uses a (12v 65/55w) 9007 bulb. It's a smaller version of the h4. Woot!!!

Are these actual JDM one-piece headlamps? They should be using an H4H.

Yeah, you're right, i went and bought the 9007 bulbs and they didn't fit. I guess I'm gonna go to Password JDM and drop $50 on some H4H bulbs.

Well let us know what bulbs you are using.

The problem with the H4 bulbs is that they one of the prongs are a constant power, while the other two are lo and hi beam grounds. this is uncommong as most bulbs are single filamanet, but for those who are two tends to be one ground and two powers.
