what is the same as a d16y8? jdm d15b?
I am currently working on changing out my engine and tranny because i got water through my intake and i hear a clicking even though is driveable. I was told that it was my rods and possibly more. Anyways i am now looking to change out the engine adn tranny altogether and get another one. I currently have a d16y8 in there and I wanted to know what engine that is jdm could work that is exaclt alike or compatible with the current engine I have. I have read that the d15b is the same but just wanted to make sure. Also anyone know where i can get one for under $1000? thanks

Why dont you have it diagnosed first? Maybe there's nothing wrong. But there probably is. You could do a D15B, but you'd have to switch over the oil pump and CKF from the Y8 to have no CEL and pass emissions if you plan on using your OBD2 ECU. You need to swap over the injectors as well. And the alternator.
You will also want to swap the intake manifold and header over from the Y8.
