Clear coat curing times?
Hi, i painted a small section of my car, the rear.
However, im concerned if the clear coat is fully cured yet, as well as the base coat. The night it was sprayed it was aprox 14 deg C above freezing.
However, after it was sprayed, it stayed at that temp for about 3 hours, than it was well below freezing for about a day, than i had it up to about 10 deg C for maybe 5 hours, and than cold for today, well ive had the stove going and its about 15deg C in there and it will be for about 8 hours total.
Does clear and base cure in sub zero temps, the extra clear i had in a jar turned solid, and i mixed everything properly. Just want to make sure im giving this enough time.
Thanks!

Touch it and find out. LOL don't do that. I would not know just could'nt resist. Should be dry to touch but still soft, my guess.

Clear coat doesn't take too long to dry depending on how many coats you put on, and how well you mixed it. The more hardener you put in it, the quicker it'll dry, but I still don't suggest going way over the mixture ratio

Best thing to do is use the proper ratio, and if you want it to look good, spray it in a controlled environment. I always allow mine to cure for 48 hrs at 70-75 degrees F. That's more than most would do but I have never had a complaint nor had to repaint a car. But with the temperature bouncing around it can cause the clear coat to become foggy. Hope this helps man. Good luck!

Re: Clear coat curing times?
clear coat cured about 3 days, at temperatures between -15 deg C and +15 deg C depending on how much wood i had in the stove, it looks fine now.
