Default lock up, and shift solenoids.

I got 1, 2, 7, and 8 blinks from my sport shift light when I tested my car. When I checked, it said that lock up solenoids A&B had open or shorted circuits, and Shift solenoids A&B circuits had opened or shorted. I also got a 17 from the CEL, I beleive that was the speed sensor. Are these things I should be concerned about?

you probably need a tcm/tcu.

ok i dunno where that guy got a new tcm from but yes you should be concerned about any code that comes out.....your lock up solenoids are most likely clogged or may be damaged....they are the 2 solenoids on the from of the transmission....as for the VSS that can be a little tricky to replace as it is in the back near the rear motor mount

ok, are they the top two or the bottom two? You said they might be clogged, are they something that can be cleaned, or do they need replaced? Thanks.

I guess you haven't heard of a few thousand bad capacitors that leak in the tcu.

so so because its throwing codes for VSS and lock up solenoids he gonna go throw a tcm at it.......sounds like back yard mechanics at its best over there.......or he cou8ld try cleaning up the solennoids and see if the code goes away and then deal with the VSS(doesnt cost anything to clean solenoids)

Well bright13 you should check all that out, I just don't think that, that many things would go wrong at the same time. But I could be wrong.

I had a dtc 7 for the shift control solenoid. Today I put a used one on there and it worked. The d4 light is not blinking anymore and the transmission shifts through all gears. Let me tell you what though, I tested the old solenoids and they checked out ok. So I don't know why they checked out ok, but if it comes back I will go to the dealer and buy new ones. I also replaced my capacitors in the tcu a couple days ago, and before that I had a dtc 8 for the lock up solenoid as well and that went away after I replaced the capacitors. So I don't know anything for sure but just to be safe I ordered a new tcu. Good luck guys.

Thanks for all the input. I took the upper two solenoids off and they looked clean, just havent gotten to taking the bottom two off. I should have been more clear with my original post, when I tested it it gave those codes and then I reset it and it hasnt put out any more. I didnt know how easy it was to get the codes from it untill I had read my manual, and I believe those codes where from several weeks ago. I had started my car and the sport shift light was flashing, and I didnt know that the flashing was telling me anything except for trans problems. So I turned it off let it sit for a couple seconds and tried to restart it, but it wouldnt start, only would turn over. I looked under the hood and tried to start it again and everything was normal. It did this to me several months ago too, but i didnt know what to think then either, and it didnt bother me too much because I had kind of been expecting my trans to go out since the first time I changed the fluid.

Theyre checked the same way the engine codes are, and will appear when being checked the same time the engine codes are.
