I had a girl knock it off with her head, she was on the way back to her side of the car lol, she felt dumb as hell. I had a friend tell me theres a type of glue to buy, superglue may work, and you put it all over that screw thats stuck in that hole on the rear view you apply the glue and place it up there and hold it for 40-60 seconds as it dries. Oh yeah for those plastic pieces on top you have to unscrew a few screws inside the dome lights.

The way to put your mirror back up is easy. Just take off the plastic cover on the dome light, then take out the 2 phillips head screws, pull down the light assembily, then you'll see more screws to take out, and from there, you can pretty much see how the mirror goes back on

how could you take off the plastic cover on the dome light? is it clear color or you mean the square plastic cover?

If the original screws have stripped the metal (they are cheap and the metal roof is very thin) just get slightly larger self tapping metal screws from Home Depot.

my friend fixed the one in his cherokee with epoxy. he just had to rig up something to hold it in place till it dried. that stuff takes 24 hours to cure fully to full strenght.

Look at the cover, and you will see a little slot where you can put a flat head screw driver to pop it off. You can't use glue to hold it up, cause its not going to hold at all.....

so, once i take it off, there's no other way to put it back even superduper glue?

I'm just saying super glue isn't going to hold it at all. You can put the mirror back on, just have to pull down your dome light assembly. Its a screw that holds your mirror up, and once you take down your dome light assembly, you'll see how it goes into place

Ive watched my friend do this on his honda civic, It dried within minutes and held sturdy, I cant remember what kind of glue,(which is why I said super glue may work) I dont know about yall but my friends and mine had the main big screw lodged in the rear view mirror and couldnt get out.

i've read this Post, frontwards and backwards but none describe what mine is.

I have a 1989 Honda Prelude. my rear view mirror is hung up by the interior not on the windshield.

When you remove the tan plastic cover.....it reveals the RV mirror placement. The base for the RV mirror with 3 screw holes...but, the screws are smaller than the holes so they fall right through and are unable to lock on if screwed in through the entire set up.

after the base there is a plastic peice that is held in by two hooks that can be poped out, and behind the plastic peice there is a simple "lock washer" you might call it.

The way i see it working is that the "lock washer fits between over the big screw in the middle of the RV mirror with the plastic peice screwed to the mount of the interior.
